“My official visit to Ethiopia in 2017 marked the beginning of this mission,” Duda said upon departure on Sunday.
The president will visit Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania to promote Polish business and hold talks on security cooperation. Duda will be accompanied by his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda.
Apart from political talks, the president will attend business meetings and visit the sites of Polish private investments, including LuNa Smelter tin producer in Rwanda.
“I will also attend the signing of several bilateral documents,” Duda said, adding that he would be accompanied by Minister Andrzej Szejna of the Foreign Ministry.
According to Duda, his talks in the three countries would focus on Poland’s development aid for Africa and cooperation in agriculture, ecology, environment protection, FinTech and taxes as well as the military sector, with special emphasis on potential exports of Polish weapons.
The president also said that the main political goal of his visit was to inform African leaders about the situation in our part of Europe and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and to explain what the cause of the food crisis in Africa was.
Duda added that he wanted to speak about Russian propaganda and disinformation in order to show that it was the country which had been violating “the order established after WWII.” (PAP)
