South Africa to host major aviation summit in September

South African Airways restarts flight operations todayThe stage is set for the 8th Aviation AFRICA Summit & Exhibition from 16-17 September 2024 at Gauteng’s Sandton Convention Centre. This landmark event, hosted by the South African government and Ministry of Transport, is poised to attract top executives and officials from across the airline and air transport industry.

SACAA Director Poppy Khoza will deliver the welcome address, setting the tone for discussions on the continent’s aviation future. Keynote speakers include AFRAA Secretary General Abdérahmane Berthé, and IATA Regional VP Kamil Al-Alwadhi.

The summit will feature panels with airline CEOs, airport leaders, and industry experts, addressing critical issues facing African aviation. This marks the first time South Africa hosts the event, highlighting its efforts to rebuild its aviation sector.

Organisers anticipate record-breaking attendance, with around 1,500 delegates expected. The summit aims to tackle challenges and explore opportunities for realising Africa’s full aviation potential.
