Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro scoop tourism awards

Date:

DAR ES SALAAM – The World Travel Awards (WTA) has, for the sixth time in a row, crowned Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park as Africa’s leading national park in 2024, the Tanzania National Parks said in a statement on Saturday.

In addition, the statement said WTA will also declare Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, as the continent’s leading tourist attraction in 2024.

Mount Kilimanjaro, one of Tanzania’s top tourist destinations, stands at about 5,895 meters above sea level, with roughly 50,000 trekkers from around the world attempting to reach its summit annually.

The statement said WTA announced the awards on Friday night during the Africa gala ceremony for the 31st WTA winners, held in Kenya’s beach resort of Mombasa.

Famous for the annual migration of nearly two million wildebeests and zebras, the Serengeti, which spans 14,763 square kilometers of wilderness, is Tanzania’s largest national park after Ruaha and Nyerere.
