Africa is a continent of immense diversity, home to 54 nations, thousands of ethnic groups and a vast range of languages, cultures, history and achievements. Now a list of Africa’s top 10 best cities have been revealed, combining rich historical context with practical insights into cost of living, amenities, infrastructure, and activities, according to Business Empires Africa.

Known for boasting some of the most beautiful beaches and world-class wine regions, Cape Town in South Africa has been crowned the best city in South Africa. With such a varying landscape there are very few other places across the globe like Cape Town as it offers forests, beaches, gardens, mountains, oceans, grasslands and nature reserves. Home to the iconic Table Mountain and the stunning Cape Peninsula, Cape Town’s history is a tapestry of diverse cultures and traditions.

South Africa’s capital city has a moderate to high cost of living, a single person can live comfortably on £770-£1100 a month. The city also has world-class healthcare, international schools as well as top notch roads and public transport.

Coming in second place is Nairobi, the capital and largest city of Kenya. Known as the gateway to safari adventures, it is the only capital city with a national park within its boundaries.

Another city in South Africa made the top 10 with the country’s most populous city Johannesburg coming in sixth place. Notorious for its lively nightlife and dining scene the city caters to all tastes and budgets as well as having top-tier healthcare and international schools. Those earning between £625-£1,000 can live a comfortable life here.

Rounding up the top 10 is the capital and largest city of Namibia, Windhoek. Offering a unique mix of German colonial architecture Namibia has quality healthcare and good roads. The cost of living here is moderate, with those earning between £620-£925 able to live a comfortable life.
