The Tanzanian archipelago of Zanzibar will require visitors to have mandatory travel insurance from October 1.
The UK Foreign Office warned in an update to its travel advice: “You may be refused entry if you do not have the correct insurance.”
The advice said all visitors to Zanzibar (excluding residents) must have mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) for the duration of their stay (up to 92 days).
“You can only buy this insurance from ZIC. Other international travel insurance policies will not be accepted,” said the FCDO.
Policies are available to buy from September 1 with more details available via the Visit Zanzibar website.
