Africa’s Tourism Industry Reaches New Heights at Kenya’s Celebrated Diani Beach Awards Ceremony

Africa’s tourism elite assembled at Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort, Diani Beach, Kenya, to honor the continent’s leading travel and hospitality innovators at the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2024. This annual event celebrates excellence, rewarding trailblazing establishments and destinations.

Tanzania emerged as a big winner, securing titles for ‘Africa’s Leading Destination’ and ‘Africa’s Leading Tourist Board’. Serengeti National Park was crowned ‘Africa’s Leading National Park’, while Mount Kilimanjaro took home the accolade of ‘Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction,’ underscoring Tanzania’s appeal to travelers.

Among new properties, Angama Amboseli, an opulent tented lodge within Kenya’s Kimana Sanctuary, was awarded ‘Africa’s Leading New Hotel’. Morocco’s St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort in Tamuda Bay also took a top spot, being named ‘Africa’s Leading New Resort.’

Kenya’s tourism offerings were in the spotlight as Diani Beach won the title of ‘Africa’s Leading Beach Destination’. Nairobi earned recognition as ‘Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination’, while Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club was celebrated as ‘Africa’s Leading Hotel’. Somerset Westview in Nairobi added to Kenya’s achievements, winning ‘Africa’s Leading Serviced Apartments’.

South Africa’s Durban reaffirmed its status as a hub for business events, taking the title of ‘Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination’, while the Port of Cape Town received honors as ‘Africa’s Leading Cruise Port’.

The event underscored Kenya’s growing influence in the African tourism sector, bringing attention to its hospitality and travel standards.

Kenya Airways soared in the aviation category, earning awards for ‘Africa’s Leading Airline’ and ‘Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class’. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi was also acknowledged as ‘Africa’s Leading Airport’.

Satguru Travel rounded out the ceremony with multiple awards, including the title of ‘Africa’s Leading Leisure Travel Agency’.
