Former Premier Pinda to grace ‘Tanzania Honey Show 2024’ in Dar

At least 5,400 stakeholders in the country’s potential beekeeping sector value chain are set to convene at the Dar es Salaam’s Mlimani City Hall to partake in the Tanzania Honey Show 2024, posed to examine market challenges and raising local and international opportunities.   

Shelved to take shape from June 19th to 21st 2024, the envisaged apiculture event serves as the grand celebration of beekeeping excellence in Tanzania under the theme “Beyond Borders, Beyond Hives”

To be graced by former Prime Minister, Mizengo Pinda, the esteemed patron of the Tanzania Honey Show 2024, the event is expected to attract a total of 400 exhibitors and more than 5,000 participants, including industry experts, beekeeping enthusiasts.

Speaking to Go! Tanzania, over the event, Mr. Elias Patrick, the Strategic Partnerships Director of the Tanzania Honey Junction, who are organizing the event, expressed that coming exhibitions promises a unique and enlightening festival that unveils significant accomplishments in the beekeeping industry.

“The theme for this grand event is ‘Beyond Borders, Beyond Hives,’ A Grand Celebration of Beekeeping Excellence: Tanzania Honey Show 2024 promises a unique and enlightening festival that unveils significant accomplishments in the beekeeping industry,” he expressed.

And he unveiled that the exciting and educational event which will span for three dynamic days will focus to help change some of the challenges upsetting the vital economic sector.

“The event aims to elevate honey consumption within Tanzania and provide local beekeepers with the tools and opportunities to access global markets. Engaging exhibitions, interactive workshops, culinary competitions, tastings, and demonstrations will showcase the diverse applications of honey while promoting sustainable beekeeping practices,” he informed.

Dwelling over the event’s theme, ‘Beyond Borders, Beyond Hives,’ Patrick detailed that the chosen theme reflects their commitment to showcasing the global significance and innovations within the honey industry that transcend geographical and traditional boundaries.

“It emphasizes the expansive reach of beekeeping practices and the diverse flavors of honey that extend beyond the confines of hives,” he insisted.

According to him, the Tanzania Honey Show is not merely a showcase, but is a positive platform for stimulating diverse innovation and collaboration towards development of the beekeeping sector across the country.

” I believe that by bringing together local and international stakeholders, we can propel Tanzanian honey onto the global stage while ensuring its benefits are appreciated right here at home,” he emphasized.

Together with that, Patrick observed that the event, which was lastly staged the way back in 2006, is part of preliminary preparations to sensitize the sector’s stakeholders to prepare effectively for the coming the 50th edition of the world apiculture summit, the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations (APIMONDIA) to be staged in 2027 in Tanzania.

APIMONDIA is the global organisation whose mandate is to promote beekeeping and anything and everything to do with bees, an organisation that has existed in its current form since 1895.
