The first ever Kilimanjaro Film Festival (KFF) to be held next year at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, is poised to promote local films to international audiences, an official said Saturday.

DAR ES SALAAM – The first ever Kilimanjaro Film Festival (KFF) to be held next year at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, is poised to promote local films to international audiences, an official said Saturday.

Vicensia Shule, the KFF director, said the film festival, set to run from July 2 to July 6, 2025, will feature screenings, music, dance, arts, cuisine, and mountain climbing competitions. The festival will merge the art of filmmaking with the allure of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering the participants and visitors a unique cultural experience.

“The festival is part of a larger initiative to connect Tanzania’s film and tourism industries,” she said.

She observed that Kilimanjaro, already a globally recognized tourist destination, provides the perfect platform to promote Tanzanian films to international audiences.

“Film (industry) is growing and needs systems to accelerate its progress. Kilimanjaro is renowned for tourism, so we decided to establish a film festival here to help films reach an international level,” said Shule.
